Deck of the Cape Rouge, Friday Morning

Life appeared to have settled some on the Rouge - and in the mansion, where a great deal of conversations had taken place over the last few weeks. Lucifer, for his part, rather enjoyed the calm-- the heavy burden of foreboding and tension had lifted entirely from his shoulders.

It had been, he had to admit, quite a while since the last time he felt that way.

And so he found himself out on the deck surprisingly early, wrapped in an incredibly thick and clearly expensive blanket, sipping from a mug of hot chocolate, feeling all right with the world.

In fact, he might have even been humming one of the classics under his breath.

Octavia made a soft noise. Agreement.

And tried burrowing against him even more.

Lucifer pushed his blanket open just a touch. He wrapped it around her, pulling her into a little cocoon of their own.

Octavia curled up into it in a way that suggested that she might have been trying to crawl into his lap, had they not been on a bench.

But this would do too, this warm closeness.

It was a good thing. A connection unmarred by all their various complications, for once. Lucifer let out a soft sigh, and pressed his face into her hair, and lingered.

Octavia did, too. It was a few moments later that she finally murmured, "You wanna steal me away to the pillow room for a while?"

Now, it wasn't generally her thing, no. But it seemed like something Lucifer would enjoy, and was by definition more comfortable than the bench.

And they still had a little bit of time.

Lucifer let out a soft, surprised laugh. "I would love to steal you away," he said. "Any time at all."

"Well, I'm offering now," Octavia told him, gently amused.

"Come on, then," Lucifer said, finding her hand under the blanket.

He got up.

Octavia followed his lead, and got up too.

Holding his hand.

[my_own_advocate]

And Lucifer held it until he had to let it go to get into the ship. Once in the galley, he turned to her, and raised an eyebrow.

"May I carry you, niron?"

Octavia gave a huff but it was a soft one. More surprise mixed with thinking she shouldn't have been surprised, than anything.

"Yes."

That was all he needed. Lucifer lifted Octavia up into his arms, smile fond. "I do enjoy this," he said, as he turned towards the hallway.

"Remembering I weigh nothing to you?" Octavia prompted, a very gentle tease.

"Having you in my arms," Lucifer said, smiling down at her.

It wasn't far to the pillow room. Alas.

Sometimes sacrifices had to be made. He'd still be able to hold her in there.

And right now, Octavia was still clinging to him, her arms around his neck. "You're welcome to me."

"I'll be responsible with that power," Lucifer said. He stepped inside, closing the door behind them with a nudge of a shoulder and a shove of his feet.

Then he lowered her down into the mess of pillows.

Octavia let him, but letting go was a different matter altogether.

"Responsible, hmm?"

Lucifer laughed, following her down. "Would you prefer I abuse the privilege?" he asked, attempting to worm his way out of his jacket without leaving her.

He was only somewhat successful.

It was okay, Octavia could be content with idly running her hands over his chest while he was doing that. It was still contact. And helpful.

"Well, you can be pretty good at that."

"It's not a Sunday night," Lucifer pointed out.

He finally managed to get out of his jacket, tossing it carelessly aside.

Then he stretched out an arm and fumbled for a nearby blanket to pull over the two of them.

"I'm sure light abuse is allowed on other days of the week," Octavia quipped, as she very helpfully slid her arms around him again.

So helpful. Clearly.

"Was someone hoping for a spanking?" Lucifer teased, his arms slipping around her waist as soon as the blanket was secure.

He kissed her.

Was Octavia supposed to answer? Maybe she had another quip ready.

But she was kissing him now, too busy.

Lucifer melted into it, his fingers sliding down, and then under her shirt.

There was always such safety in this.

Octavia gave him a little hum of approval when his hand found her skin.

Her own played with his hair a little.
