Deck of the Cape Rouge, Friday Morning

Life appeared to have settled some on the Rouge - and in the mansion, where a great deal of conversations had taken place over the last few weeks. Lucifer, for his part, rather enjoyed the calm-- the heavy burden of foreboding and tension had lifted entirely from his shoulders.

It had been, he had to admit, quite a while since the last time he felt that way.

And so he found himself out on the deck surprisingly early, wrapped in an incredibly thick and clearly expensive blanket, sipping from a mug of hot chocolate, feeling all right with the world.

In fact, he might have even been humming one of the classics under his breath.

"Because we're putting in the work."

And ignoring the multiverses attempts at wrenching them apart, sometimes.

"Because it's worth it," Lucifer agreed. He pressed his face against her shoulder. "This is worth it."

"We're worth it," Octavia murmured, sliding her arm more around him.

"We are. All three of us," Lucifer said quietly. "Especially-- especially now."

"Why is that?" Octavia asked, softly. Rubbing a little circle into his back. "What do you mean?"

"Feels like we lost Duke for a long time," Lucifer said quietly. "Now that he's back, I don't want to lose him again."

"Oh." More of a breath than anything. "Yeah. Yeah, me neither."
