Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Night

Date Nights had a certain structure to them, born mainly of habit. But that didn't mean they needed to keep to it.

In fact, the second Lucifer had received Octavia's text, he'd mentally overhauled all of the night's plans and picked up a few munchies and sodas. Dug up some of his excess pillows, and littered them along the living room.

He had-- multiple stashes. After a moment's thought as to what type of... relaxation would be best for the night, Lucifer went digging around for a particular one. Waiting, as he was doing so, for Octavia.

"You've had some weed and you have a cocktail," Lucifer told her, "That's not even 1 percent bad behavior."

Octavia rolled her eyes. Theatrically.

"I'm only good when I'm forced to. You know that."

Lucifer laughed. "In that case, you are being very bad right now," he allowed.

"Thank you," Octavia said, emphatically, and pressed a kiss to his cheek.

"You're welcome," Lucifer said, promptly got distracted, and turned to kiss her properly.

Or something like that.

'Properly' seemed to mostly involve kissing lots of parts of her face.

Which just invited more giggling from Octavia.

It was likely going to continue to be a theme of the evening.

Well, what was the point of smoking weed if you weren't hoping to get a good laugh out of it? "You're so pretty," he said.

Snicker. "So are you."

[my_own_advocate]

"I know," Lucifer giggled. "I'm extremely pretty."

[okteiviakom]

"Extremely," Octavia agreed, running her fingers from his hairline down along the side of his head, as if to encompass all of his beauty in one movement. "Mmm."

"But you have such a nice nose," Lucifer sighed. "And... hair."

[okteiviakom]

"My nose?" Octavia asked. The hair thing was not new but that was. "What's so nice about my nose?"

[my_own_advocate]

"It's very very very cute," Lucifer told her. "Like a button."

[okteiviakom]

"... I don't think you know what buttons look like."

[my_own_advocate]

"Your nose," Lucifer told her very seriously.

[okteiviakom]

"I've never seen a button that looks like my nose." A beat. "or any nose."

[my_own_advocate]

"Then maybe you haven't been paying attention."

He got you there, right?

[okteiviakom]

"I was sewing buttons onto things as a kid," Octavia retorted.

Please don't make her think about how few kinds of buttons had survived the apocalypse.

"And were they cute?"

[okteiviakom]

"Not really?" Octavia replied, shrugging, after barely a second of pretending to think about it. "I mean, they were buttons. Right?"

[my_own_advocate]

"Some buttons are very cute," Lucifer told her. "Not everything has to be entirely functional."

[okteiviakom]

"But buttons should be."

[my_own_advocate]

"Why?" Lucifer said. "Why can't useful things be pretty?"

[okteiviakom]

"They should still be entirely functional."

His words!

"Some can be ornamental," Lucifer judged. "Your nose is both."
