Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Night

Date Nights had a certain structure to them, born mainly of habit. But that didn't mean they needed to keep to it.

In fact, the second Lucifer had received Octavia's text, he'd mentally overhauled all of the night's plans and picked up a few munchies and sodas. Dug up some of his excess pillows, and littered them along the living room.

He had-- multiple stashes. After a moment's thought as to what type of... relaxation would be best for the night, Lucifer went digging around for a particular one. Waiting, as he was doing so, for Octavia.

"So you are saying your nose is ugly or unappealing?" Lucifer asked.

"I'm saying it's irrelevant."

... Wait, no. Octavia's face scrunched up a little as she tried to follow her own train of thought.

"Not my nose, obviously, but whether it's -- cute."

"I don't think it's irrelevant," Lucifer said, predictably.

[okteiviakom]

"But that's what I just said," Octavia retorted, louder than she'd meant to, but oh well. "That's your opinion!"

[my_own_advocate]

"And my opinion matters most, because I'm the one who has to look at your nose all the time," Lucifer informed her.

Primly.

[okteiviakom]

"Nope!" Octavia informed him, poking him in the chest with a finger. "That's a choice you're making!"

[my_own_advocate]

"Wrong way around," Lucifer retorted, tapping her nose. "I look at your nose because it's pretty."

[okteiviakom]

"But you just said you 'have to'," Octavia retorted.

And tried to bite at his finger.

Lucifer pulled his hand away. "Because it's attached to your face."

Do not expect him to make fully logical leaps today, Tavi.

Octavia pouted at her lost prey, but made no moves towards his hand again. Maybe she ought to take another sip from her glass?

Yes.

"Still."

"And I have to look at your face," Lucifer said practically, "Because it's part of you."

[okteiviakom]

"There it is again, 'have to'," Octavia pointed out. "You keep saying that."

[my_own_advocate]

"Because I have to," Lucifer objected. "I can't not-- look at you."

[okteiviakom]

"You could turn around."

Not what he was saying, Tavi.

[my_own_advocate]

"No, I can't," Lucifer objected. "If I turn around, you might be gone when I turn back."

Did he need more weed, or less? It was hard to tell.

"But then you wouldn't have to look at me!"

Octavia was clearly at just the right amount of weed.

[my_own_advocate]

"Yes, I would," Lucifer said, almost plaintive. "Because when I can't look at you I'll crumple into a little ball and fly away with the wind."

Very poetic, Lucifer.

"... Oh," Octavia breathed. "Well."

A small pause.

"I don't want that."

[my_own_advocate]

There was a moral-philosophical discussion in here somewhere about not being an island or something, but Lucifer wasn't even aware he was having it. "I don't want that either," he said. "Do you see?"

Octavia put her free hand on his cheek. Maybe a little bit more clumsily than she thought she was doing it, but the sentiment was what mattered.

And the sentiment was very gentle.

"Can we just agree," she asked, very seriously, "that my nose is a nose?"

"It is a nose," Lucifer agreed, "But I have different feelings about your nose than you do about your nose."

Her hand was nice. He leaned into it.

"I guess I can let you," Octavia murmured.

[my_own_advocate]

"Good," Lucifer said.

Abruptly, he started to shift on the sofa, arms and hips moving, trying to press his face into her neck and curl into her like a kind of sad octopus.

Octavia made a soft noise, not entirely a yelp, and had the presence of mind to set the glass aside before just... succumbing to his moving.

Sliding her arms around him and pulling him in.

"I love your nose," Lucifer mumbled into her shoulder.
