The Cape Rouge, Saturday Afternoon

It had been a glorious week free of drama (bar what Eric predictably brought to the table), and they were capping it off with an even more glorious weekend of nudity, scarves, a light pirate 'abduction', and, well. .

A nap here and there, at least if you were Lucifer; he hadn't exactly been keeping track of where anyone else had been while he was out. Had to keep his strength up.

Which was why he was in the kitchen late into the afternoon, still naked. "First batch of grilled cheese is almost ready!" he called, flipping one sandwich with a practiced motion. Hey, if you were impervious to boiling butter, you made the most of it, no?

It was slightly more complicated than that for her.

But it didn't have to be, right now. "Then yes, I do think that part is fun. Very, even."

"Good," Lucifer said. He leaned away to stretch a bit. "Perhaps tomorrow we can flip the script a bit."

Just because he was the most reliably toppy person in this relationship didn't mean he wasn't an equal-opportunity slut in more ways than one.

"Tomorrow?" Octavia questioned. She didn't ask whether he was already running out of steam for the day, but her amused look was definitely implying it.

"Tomorrow," Lucifer agreed. "Not because I'm done, but I feel like we should stick to a theme for the day."

Octavia's snort was soft. "That's a surprisingly rigid schedule, coming from you."

She was not objecting, though!

"Well, I've already spent most of today unsurprisingly rigid in other ways," Lucifer pointed out.

[okteiviakom]

"Well that's because we are just so damn inspiring," Octavia rasped, amused.

[my_own_advocate]

"That's true," Lucifer said, settling in against her. "You truly are a beacon of inspiration, my beautiful, shapely muse."

[okteiviakom]

Snort.

"That's a lot of new words," Octavia replied, and took what was likely to be her second-to-last bite.

(Guess she'd been hungry, after all.)

"Perhaps I'm in a new good move," Lucifer said merrily, "With a bit of thanks to the curve of those snarky lips of yours."

Octavia tilted her head a little, as if she was giving it some serious thought.

(The idle little lip lick was just because there were crumbs, okay? And for absolutely no other reason.)

"I mean, my lips do seem to make you pretty happy, sometimes."

MOOD, self, not move.

"Don't sell yourself short," he said, watching her mouth. "I'd say rather more than 'pretty'. Though I suppose 'pretty' works in a different context, especially when he's also involved."

"I think that definition of pretty seems like a given, here. In every combination."

Maybe there were crumbs on her top lip, too. Or she was just making sure, with that little tongue flick.

"I saw you do a few things to him that were downright inspired as well."

Mm. Perhaps it was time to start dragging her back towards the bedroom?

Octavia smirked a little. (Pleased, maybe.) "Maybe Duke's a muse, too."

And there went the last of the bread.

"Has your walk given you some time to meditate on what you'd like to do to him next?" Lucifer said, half-teasing, half-interested.

[okteiviakom]

"Do you think I went out and just thought about you two?"

[my_own_advocate]

"I assume we at least featured heavily," Lucifer said.

[okteiviakom]

"Well, he did." A beat. "While I was thinking about the maintenance I need to do on the Samsara."

But sure, she was never a brat.

[my_own_advocate]

But Lucifer was undeterred. "He is very attractive in his summer work clothes all covered in grease, I agree, but not quite the vibe we've been going for so far..."

"Competence is attractive," Octavia replied, and shrugged as she licked the last crumbs off her fingers. "But no, I don't have a plan. I figure it'll come to me in the moment."

A beat.

"And then he'll come for me, in the moment."

"Mm, nice," Lucifer said.

He reached for her hand, curling his fingers around her wrist. "Missed some."

"Did I?" Octavia asked, a subtle shade lower, now.

Her eyes didn't flick to her hand. They stayed on his face.

That was fine. Lucifer pulled her hand up towards his face. He leaned in just so, his lips pressing gently to the pad of her index finger.

"Well that's not going to do anything," Octavia murmured.

Her attention rapt.

Her fingertip pressing a little more firmly against his lips.
