Seivarden's wardrobe was a disgrace, frankly. Not because it was terrible, mind you, but because she clearly needed an upgrade, and Lucifer was in a giving mood.
(Lucifer was five minutes from wandering into the local police station to offer his services. This was probably a better outlet for the nagging desire to be kind and useful to something or someone.)
They arrived by portal midway into the morning, stepping out into the Manhattan streets. It was cold, but not debilitatingly so, with a sprinkle of snow coming down from the heavens. The kind of moment an angel... ... could really miss Los Angeles, actually.
[[ for that Radchaai, and with some ocd ]]

Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 06:16 (UTC)Though Lucifer had a particular shop in mind for their first stop. After a short stroll down a few blocks, he gestured towards the building. "Because you wanted to go somewhere 'civilized'."
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 07:25 (UTC)She couldn't afford them. Hopefully the flower shop would start bringing in money after the improvements.
Seivarden wasn't thinking too much about it right now, because the city itself couldn't be anything but distracting, if quite uncivilized. Not in a bad way, in the enjoyable one.
"Oh. Gloves." She grinned. "A better selection than what I've seen before, I'm guessing.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 07:37 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 07:40 (UTC)A quick glance on what was on display and she said: "I think I'll be able to find something here."
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 07:46 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 07:58 (UTC)"I do have good taste, you know."
And proceeded to look closer at a few different styles.
"What do you think?"
Lucifer might not know much about Radchaai glove style, but he should at least be allowed an opinion.
"I'm not really a fan of long ones though."
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 08:04 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 08:08 (UTC)She looked at Lucifer. "Are you sure floral ones aren't predictable? I mean, the velour ones would be, but they do come in nice colours."
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 08:20 (UTC)It had been over a century since human fashion had preferred them to the point where he'd paid attention to them. "It's not exactly a Walmart glove with a rose badly stitched on."
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 08:41 (UTC)She asked one of the staff to try a few of them out. Not that Seivarden even noticed, this was the kind of place and in the kind of city where someone male-presenting asking for floral-patterned gloves didn't get her a strange look.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 08:45 (UTC)He did snag an elegant pair of leather men's gloves from one of the shelves after a moment or so. You never knew when they could come in handy.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 08:54 (UTC)Then she found the sexy underwear section.
"Lucifer?"
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 09:32 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 09:43 (UTC)That wasn't necessarily a bad thing, just an observation.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 09:47 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 09:49 (UTC)Of course Lucifer couldn't be expected to notice.
"Of course I want a pair. I'm sure I can find an opportunity to wear them."

Date: 18 Jan 2020 10:01 (UTC)Re: Shopping

Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 10:15 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 10:19 (UTC)The joy of Seivarden's thing about gloves was that it opened up all kinds of new fun.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 10:25 (UTC)She looked at gloves on the counter that she had picked out, and the notes for the custom orders. Knowing that Lucifer probably intended to pay, which she definitely couldn't herself, she knew she would have to say something even if it was an awkward thing to bring up.
"I probably should get one of these credit cards at some point."
No, you shouldn't, Seivarden.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 10:28 (UTC)He had more money than he knew what to do with.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 10:29 (UTC)She would never be able to and she knew that.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 10:32 (UTC)He could tell it was a sensitive topic.
He paid with a smile, and waited as the cashier packed up their order - his own gloves included.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 10:35 (UTC)Accepting the bag, she said: "Where to next?"
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 10:56 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 10:57 (UTC)She would have opinions on fabrics and colours though.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 11:04 (UTC)He strode onto the pavement, walking towards a nearby fashion store.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 11:08 (UTC)Seivarden followed Lucifer.
"And the styles are all so... gendered."
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 11:10 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 11:32 (UTC)She stopped in front of a window displaying women's clothing.
"I like that coat." A wide coat, dark purple and thin red stripes, with a black teddy lining.
"Those boots would be nice too, if the heels weren't so high." Soft, red leather.
She looked at Lucifer.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 11:55 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 12:05 (UTC)At least she figured it out by herself?

Date: 18 Jan 2020 12:19 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 12:22 (UTC)She slid out from behind the counter and walked further into the shop.
Lucifer followed.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 12:32 (UTC)"Do you know what size I have?" she whispered to Lucifer.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 12:43 (UTC)He tilted his head thoughtfully. "They use different sizing systems for men and women," he said. "But at a guess, I'd say 16 might do."
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 12:49 (UTC)"So far this city is more civilized than I'm used to on this planet."
If the woman had heard that comment she didn't show it, and instead held out a coat for Seivarden to try on.
"Are the sleeves too short?" She spun around slowly in front of the mirror. "Otherwise I think it fits. What do you say?"
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 12:52 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 12:54 (UTC)Or at home. Uniforms were made to fit, after all.
"Maybe it would be easier to look for something else."
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 12:56 (UTC)The woman looked pained. "I think we might still have one?" she said. "I'll check in back, hold on."
And she was gone.
Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 13:00 (UTC)Re: Shopping
Date: 18 Jan 2020 13:03 (UTC)And then he heard his name being called.
An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 06:18 (UTC)"Remy-- Remy, come back! Lucy!"
Lucifer's head whipped around towards the source of the noise. A young woman in decidedly not-local clothes came barreling down the street, pushing through the masses, pursued by a tall-- "Amenadiel? Remiel?"
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 13:04 (UTC)Seivarden pulled the handles of the bag up on her shoulder, and frowned as she saw Lucifer's reaction.
"Lucifer? Who are they?"
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 13:13 (UTC)Mind you, he was looking straight at Amenadiel.
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 13:15 (UTC)"I'm not surprised I'd find you here around these pitiful humans," Remiel snapped. "Where's the unfortunate woman you impregnated? Talk fast, I don't have the patience to deal with you, brother."
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 13:16 (UTC)Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 13:23 (UTC)"Actually, I find the people in this city aren't too bad, compared to what I'm used to on Earth. But if you mean all humans..." she smiled impolitely, "...I think at least you should upgrade that pitiful weapon."
She leaned in to whisper to Lucifer: "Do you have a child?"
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 14:13 (UTC)"For the first time in millennia, I've sensed a new Celestial," she snapped. "A baby. Where is it, Lucifer? Tell me now."
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 14:14 (UTC)He wasn't looking at Amenadiel. Doing so, hinting at anything, might put Linda - and her and Amenadiel's child - at risk.
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 14:14 (UTC)Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 14:15 (UTC)Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 14:47 (UTC)"Now most civilized people can at least insult their siblings while showing some kind of taste. We're busy, go look for a baby somewhere else."
While Seivarden understood that Lucifer didn't appreciate his family much, she didn't want to overdo it. There was a difference when someone else insulted your siblings after all.
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 14:51 (UTC)"Remy," Amenadiel said sharply, startling into action. "No wings in public!"
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 14:56 (UTC)Seivarden looked at Lucifer, then back at his sister, taking a step towards her.
Then the wings appeared.
"What?!" She was still angry but now also confused about how to act.
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:00 (UTC)--she yanked them back in in an instant. "Right, I forgot," she said.
"Yes, you've clearly not been here in some time," Lucifer said sharply, stepping back. "As for Seivarden, she is entirely her own human. Show a little respect."
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:02 (UTC)With a sigh, Amenadiel put a hand on her arm. "Remy," he said. "Lucifer's right. Humans are actually not that bad."
Remiel gave him a sharp look. "You are the one who taught me that they were beneath us, brother."
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:23 (UTC)She ignored that Amenadiel had actually supported Lucifer, because clearly it had been a recent change of heart.
"Oh, and I don't have a baby with him so go somewhere else and look for the poor thing."
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:30 (UTC)His eyes flicked to Amenadiel's in a silent we'll talk about this. Possibly also a if you endangered Linda... along the way.
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:31 (UTC)Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:32 (UTC)"Never," he snapped, "A liar."
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:33 (UTC)"Remy," Amenadiel said carefully, his eyes flicking from Lucifer to her and back. "Let's look elsewhere together. We can make it a hunt, like old times. You said the baby was somewhere in New York..."
"Yes," she said, taking a step back, eyes narrowed. "But if we find out Lucifer is involved--"
"Then I'm sure we'll be able to find Lucy again," Amenadiel said gently. "C'mon."
He pulled on her arm. She went with.
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:41 (UTC)On the other hand, this was Seivarden
"Is everyone on your family like that?" she asked as she watched them leave.
And: "They call you Lucy?"
And, turning her head to look at him: "Is that what your wings look like?"
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:44 (UTC)"Not everyone," he said finally, tucking the phone into his pocket. "And no. Mine are white."
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:47 (UTC)Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:53 (UTC)There was actual concern on his face.
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 15:57 (UTC)She really didn't want to end this trip, but if a niece needed rescuing from a crazy aunt that was more important.
Despite not being very perceptive, it was still obvious from the look on Lucifer's face that it was important.
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 16:00 (UTC)He took a deep breath.
"No," he said. "Amenadiel will deal with this, and the mother is leaving town as fast as she possibly can."
His mouth flashed a tired grin in Seivarden's direction. "Sorry about all the family drama, darling."
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 16:06 (UTC)She wrinkled her nose. "Actually, that 'your human' was new. What was that about?"
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 16:09 (UTC)Back into his pocket went the phone. He managed a slight smile for Seivarden, turning his head. "So clearly, you can't be here of your own free will."
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 16:11 (UTC)She laughed.
Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 16:13 (UTC)Re: An Interruption

Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 16:30 (UTC)Re: An Interruption
Date: 18 Jan 2020 16:37 (UTC)She grinned.
"I'm really pleased with what we've found so far."
At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 06:19 (UTC)That left him and Seivarden at a very nice hotel near Central Park. He shoved open the door to their room-- "Finally, a hotel with a decently-sized minibar."
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 16:54 (UTC)"I do need a drink," she said, then tugged at Lucifer's arm to pull him close for a kiss.

Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 18:32 (UTC)Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 18:42 (UTC)A while later Seivarden lay stretched out on the bed, naked but for a pair of sparkly mesh gloves. She held up a hand, admiring the glove.
"I forgot about the drinks."

Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 18:58 (UTC)The bottles were much bigger.
He picked a nice scotch. "You weren't just holding that over my head to get me back into bed?"
Not that it was hard, to be fair.
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 19:02 (UTC)She pushed herself up. "Not specifically to a bed, of course. You can use it before reaching the bed."

Re: At the Hotel

Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 19:22 (UTC)"I'd hope so," he said, smirking. "I was listening earlier."
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 19:26 (UTC)Seivarden leaned over to kiss Lucifer, letting it last, and softly biting his lower lip.
"I'd like to ask something though," she continued when she pulled away.

Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 19:35 (UTC)She made a gesture with her hand.
"If you don't want to tell me, it's fine."
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 19:39 (UTC)"Because I've had a very complicated time of late," he said at last, "And I'm not sure what I'll find."
Actually, he was terrified.
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 19:41 (UTC)Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 19:43 (UTC)And then another one, to be sure.
"Well, there's really no use in pretending like the angel thing is just some quirky thing I bring up to look charming," he said. "I told you my kind can't have children. Yet my brother has fathered one. That didn't strike you as strange?"
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 19:46 (UTC)She added: "It all just seemed complicated."
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 19:48 (UTC)Today had reminded him that he missed Linda dearly.
"To put it in layman's terms, we are whatever we feel we are. Good, bad, angelic, human. My brother went through a bad patch some time ago. He thought God had essentially brought him down to human. And so human is what he became."
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 19:52 (UTC)"And what do you think you are?"
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 19:57 (UTC)Re: At the Hotel

Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 20:37 (UTC)Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 20:42 (UTC)Seivarden looked genuinely confused. "I'm not saying it's right to kill people generally, but there are circumstances in which it can be called for and..."
"A monster?"
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 20:44 (UTC)He brought his glass up to his mouth and took a big sip.
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 20:51 (UTC)"I have to say, your family... I can't imagine what it must be like."
She continued:
"As you said, people have been telling me since I arrived that I'm wrong, but I didn't believe them. I mean, of course I've completely fucked everything up, but it has nothing to do with that, or what they say."
She turned her head to look at Lucifer.
"I still don't get the part about being a monster."
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 21:00 (UTC)"Of course you don't," he said finally. "Unlike everyone else on this planet, you have no idea of who I am."
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 21:03 (UTC)No, she had no idea.
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 21:07 (UTC)Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 21:13 (UTC)"What then?"
She refilled her glass, almost to the brim.
"Now, I don't know you very well yet, but your family seems... not very loving? I can't say much about what the rest of the planet thinks, because I don't know."
She hadn't really expected this kind of conversation. It was so complicated when lovers started talking about families who didn't care about them and all sorts of difficult things she couldn't really relate to.
"It would be easier if you told me."
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 21:14 (UTC)"Well, according to the most popular religious text on this planet, I am the source of all evil, darling," Lucifer said, fixed on a fake smile, and looked at Seivarden.
Re: At the Hotel

Date: 18 Jan 2020 21:21 (UTC)Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 21:29 (UTC)Not that rebellions weren't serious, and she had personally killed officers for disobeying orders, but this...
"That just sounds mean. I know it's complicated, but I'm not going to care about someone who deals with family conflicts like that, especially not someone who claims to be the one and only god."
Monotheism, really. She might also be a bit tipsy. But Lucifer had been kind and generous to her since they met, not to mention fun and sexy, and considering all the pointless things that was going on on this planet, she felt she could just as well just support him.
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 21:33 (UTC)But he was on vacation. He was owed some time distracting himself with someone who believed him when he said who he said he was, and yet had no reason to care about it.
"From your lips to humanity's ears, I suppose," he said, and rolled onto his side, and reached for Seivarden so he could kiss her.
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 18 Jan 2020 21:37 (UTC)"I still didn't get the part about the wings," Seivarden mumbled against his lips, a little distracted.
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 19 Jan 2020 07:44 (UTC)Re: At the Hotel
Date: 19 Jan 2020 07:55 (UTC)She gestured with the hand holding her now empty glass.
"Or maybe I'm just being selfish."
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 19 Jan 2020 08:08 (UTC)Re: At the Hotel
Date: 19 Jan 2020 08:11 (UTC)She wasn't good at dealing with people being guilty. At least none of this was about her, so maybe it was best just to let him talk.
She was also curious, for some reason. She wasn't sure why, but maybe it was those wings.
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 19 Jan 2020 08:16 (UTC)His mouth curved, not with any particular joy, more to himself than anything else.
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 19 Jan 2020 08:21 (UTC)"Actually, and this might sound harsh, but I think you should just get over it. Distract yourself, probably."
She leaned over to place a kiss on his shoulder.
"I know I don't know you very well, but I haven't seen any monstrous about you, in fact you've probably been the most understanding person I've met on this island."
Tisarwat possibly excluded.
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 19 Jan 2020 08:24 (UTC)Re: At the Hotel
Date: 19 Jan 2020 08:27 (UTC)Smiling, Seivarden leaned in to kiss him. Probably best to leave all that family stuff before Lucifer got even more upset about it.
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 19 Jan 2020 08:32 (UTC)"I wouldn't mind taking it nice and slow," he said, his fingers brushing over the back of Seivarden's head as he set the glass aside with the other hand. "Right up until you fuck me for all you're worth."
Re: At the Hotel
Date: 19 Jan 2020 08:44 (UTC)Seivarden reached across Lucifer to get rid of her own glass, then moved to straddle him, pushing him down on to his back.
"At some point I want to see those wings though."
She was really clueless sometimes. No, actually, a lot of the time. Perhaps being good in bed compensated?
