Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Night

It had certainly been a complicated week, hadn't it? Luckily, it had ended before the weekend, and Lucifer, Duke and Octavia had had all Saturday to recover.

That didn't mean Lucifer hadn't been slightly surprised that Octavia was still game for date night. But he had grasped it with every bit of enthusiasm he could foster. And yes, that did mean dinner had featured a genuinely ridiculous amount of tropical fruit.

"Suppose I should've put a protein in there," he mused, settling back and eyeing his empty dessert bowl with satisfaction.

"Only deserving flattery, I assure you," Lucifer said. He closed his eyes, and... took in the moment.

Octavia couldn't see him, but maybe she picked up on a vibe anyway. She slid her arm a little more snugly around him.

"Well, aside from being a flatterer, you are a wonder," she murmured. "Even when you don't always get it right immediately."

"Thank you," Lucifer said. He slid his hand down and patted her knee. "Shall we just have a drink together and make this a cosy evening?"

"What is your obsession with drinking?" Octavia asked, with the tiniest soft snort. "But... yes."

Seemed like the safest bet, after everything.

"It's a nice, comfortable activity for us to do while we snuggle on the sofa?" Lucifer said.

"It also takes you away from me," Octavia retorted. "Before that."

[my_own_advocate]

"For a moment or two only," Lucifer said. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and so on."

"So does sticking around."

Even if that wasn't a saying.

"Would you rather just sit here for the next hour, then?"

[okteiviakom]

"If I was sure you weren't secretly dying inside the entire time because you didn't have a glass in your hand," Octavia said, only half joking.

Lucifer rolled his eyes. "I don't need whiskey," he said. "It's just pleasant to have."

"Okay," Octavia replied easily, "then feeling mildly unpleasant inside without the glass."

[my_own_advocate]

"Thank you," Lucifer muttered.

[okteiviakom]

"You're welcome," Octavia replied, incorrigible, and kissed his chest again.

Just as a token of something or other.

Lucifer chuckled, and swept his hand through her hair. "Music's still on."

"Yes," Octavia said, "I have ears too."

She had... definitely not been listening to it for a long time now, though.

"Just bringing it to your attention," Lucifer said, mouth curving.

[okteiviakom]

"Why?"

[my_own_advocate]

"Because this is the playlist I picked for you," Lucifer said, "And my ego would like you to enjoy it."

[okteiviakom]

"You picked it for me," Octavia replied with a lopsided smile. "How would I not enjoy it?"

Lucifer's smile was wry. "In case I got it wrong."

[okteiviakom]

"Well, hasn't happened yet," Octavia murmured. "You're safe."

[my_own_advocate]

"All right," Lucifer said. Leaned a little further into her. "Let's listen together, then."

[okteiviakom]

Octavia shifted just a bit, just getting more comfortable.

"Yeah, let's," she hummed.

Lucifer smiled, and shifted with her.

Settled in.
