Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Night

It had certainly been a complicated week, hadn't it? Luckily, it had ended before the weekend, and Lucifer, Duke and Octavia had had all Saturday to recover.

That didn't mean Lucifer hadn't been slightly surprised that Octavia was still game for date night. But he had grasped it with every bit of enthusiasm he could foster. And yes, that did mean dinner had featured a genuinely ridiculous amount of tropical fruit.

"Suppose I should've put a protein in there," he mused, settling back and eyeing his empty dessert bowl with satisfaction.

Octavia made a faint 'well that seems unnecessary' sort of face, but said, "Okay, well, get up."

She was already doing so.

Lucifer chuckled. He rose from the tub and reached for his towel. "As you wish."

"As you wish," Octavia retorted, tugging her own towel a little more firmly around herself, and turned for the door.

A louder laugh, as Lucifer began to settle back into his own skin. He dried off, and wrapped the towel around his hips, then followed.

Octavia was just inside the door. "Do you have a robe anywhere?"

"Closet, to your right," Lucifer said.

Octavia nodded, and turned for the closet.

"I just want something to wear," she said as she looked through for the robe.

"Feel free to grab whichever you like best," Lucifer said. "They're all quite nice."

And soft. And-- "Actually, get me the black one with the red trimming, will you?"

"This one?" Octavia asked, pulling it up and holding it out, while still looking for whatever spoke to her.

"Yes," Lucifer said, reaching out to take it.

They were all more or less the same fabric, but in different tones and cuts.

After all her deliberation, Octavia ended up pulling out something dark and understated. Figured.

She switched out her towel for it, and dried the ends of her hair a little.

Lucifer tied his robe shut, and slid his hand to the center of her back. "Better?"

He'd certainly lost the sensation of distance between them.

Octavia instantly swaying towards him as soon as he touched her probably said something, too.

"Yeah."

"Then let's sit," Lucifer said, smiling. "I'll get us some tea or something in a bit."

But not yet. Right now, he wanted to stay close; he ushered her towards the sofa without removing his hand.

It was much better than tea could ever hope to be.

Octavia followed along.

Lucifer sat down on the couch, pulling her with him. Not into his lap, but close enough so he could lean on her the moment she was seated.

He needed that.

(They both did.)

No worries there: Octavia was trying to curl up against his side as soon as she'd sat down.

They really did both need that.

So Lucifer let go of her hand and slung that arm around her shoulders, instead. Pressed a kiss to her temple, and leaned in further.

Just... took a moment to feel her warmth.

Judging by her soft hum, Octavia didn't mind that.

She slid her hand onto his leg, just for an extra point of contact.

"Sometimes it's just good to have you near," Lucifer murmured, even though he didn't have to.

Oh but he did. "Yeah," Octavia sighed. "I feel the same."

"Duke's always accusing me of wanting to nest," Lucifer said wrily. "Right now, I might even agree with him."

[okteiviakom]

"Helps to re-establish closeness," Octavia murmured. "Or so my therapist says."

More or less, anyway.

Lucifer nodded. "I suppose that would make sense," he mused. "I should ask Linda."

[okteiviakom]

"I've been trying to get better," Octavia admitted, nuzzling at his shoulder a little. "About touching. After I get... upset."
