A Spot in the Preserve, Sunday Evening

Lucifer and Octavia had their Sunday rituals down to a T. And that-- well, that made Lucifer a bit contrarian, at times. There was nothing wrong with their tradition, healing as it was, but doing the same thing over and over again wasn't always that exciting.

And, all right. Perhaps he was still processing his own healing breakdown a week after the fact.

So he'd promised Octavia a surprise. Shown up with some take out bags and a smile.

She'd probably figured out where they were going well before the first trees came into view. It was a bit chilly, that couldn't be helped, but still: Lucifer thought the ambiance would help. "Almost there."

Lucifer snorted. "I can downsize," he sniffed.

"To a more moderately sized cruise ship?" Octavia teased.

Because she didn't need a bedroom to be a brat.

Lucifer sighed loudly. "A small pleasure yacht." Beat. "With a pool."

[okteiviakom]

"A pool," Octavia repeated. "When the ocean is right there."

She knew there was a difference, okay, she had to say it anyway.

"An ocean that is ice cold, salty, and full of smelly fish."

Sure, Lucifer had come around on nautical living, but still!

"I don't see your point," Octavia informed him.

And happily took a bite of her pizza.

[my_own_advocate]

"Because you're a strange forest-dwelling fairy creature," Lucifer said, taking another bite of his. "And don't get a say."

[okteiviakom]

"It's fine," Octavia said. "I'm sure I'll enjoy ogling you poolside, anyway."

Silver lining.

"I am fantastic at poolside lounging," Lucifer agreed, beaming.

Octavia snorted, but it did nothing to her smirk. "That you are," she agreed. "I can just picture it now..."

"Ooh, am I wearing a speedo?" Lucifer asked.

[okteiviakom]

"A very small one."

Of course.

[my_own_advocate]

"I approve," Lucifer said merrily, reaching for a bottle of scotch in one of the bags.

[okteiviakom]

"Figured you would." Since it was very much modeled on what he tended to actually wear whenever they were near a beach in warm weather, and he still had to wear something. "And I would, too."

"You can wear something nice and tight and black and join me there," Lucifer said, grinning. "We'll have iced tea and bask in the sun."

"Like lizards?"

[my_own_advocate]

"Very comfortable lizards, snacking away the afternoon," Lucifer agreed. "We can make Duke serve us drinks."

Octavia chuckled. "I was wondering where he fit in."

Since it was so difficult fitting Duke and water together, as they well knew.

"Well, you know how much he likes being told what to do," Lucifer said, grinning.

Talking about Duke: the best kind of foreplay.

"Not as much as I used to," Octavia replied with a touch of wryness, over her slice, "but I do."

[my_own_advocate]

"With a light touch," Lucifer allowed, "Between the two of us."

He took a bite of his own.

[okteiviakom]

"I'm sure he'll also happily prepare some nice fruit snacks," Octavia added, moving on. Ish. "And whatever else we need."

"And then we can ask him to take all his clothes off and drape himself across the poolside."

[okteiviakom]

Octavia gave that thought a happy little hum, picking up her glass.

"All of this is just about convincing me you should get your own boat."

[my_own_advocate]

"Honestly, I just got distracted by the mental image of you in a bathing suit and him naked," Lucifer admitted merrily.
