Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Night

Last week had gone a bit... off-plan. And while they'd tried - and largely succeeded - to clear the air right after, Lucifer still felt tonight's date night required a bit more time spent on the actual 'date' portion, rather than the therapeutic sexcapades.

"You know what we haven't gotten much use out of in here in some time?" Lucifer asked, as he set down his empty dessert bowl, "The living room."

Perhaps it was best to try the cuddling and talking before the heavy stuff, this time.

And Octavia would've reached out for it, too, but --

"You put drugs on my boat?"

There was a small frown, yes.

"Just one blunt with the spare ropes," Lucifer said, tilting his head. "For emergencies."

Octavia reached for the cigarette now, but her eyes lingered on his face.

"That's my space, Lucifer," she said. Soft, but... "Don't do that again without telling me."

[my_own_advocate]

"I'm sorry," Lucifer said, as that realisation hit him. "I can remove it, if you'd like."

"Might be better." Not that it mattered as much as him not doing that again.

She drew her hand back, holding the joint.

[my_own_advocate]

"Either way, I won't do it again," Lucifer said, reaching into his pocket for a lighter. "Would you like me to light that?"

Octavia nodded up at him.

"Yes."

[my_own_advocate]

He flicked on the lighter, and leaned forward to hold it to the end of her cigarette. "There you are. One actually-requested lit joint."

"Thanks."

And what was there to do, but to take a drag? Especially if the alternative was saying anything about that 'actually-requested'.

(She was unpractised. Kind of ended up coughing.)

"Careful," Lucifer said, sitting down beside her again. "Take small hits and be sure to inhale all the way."

"Almost remember how this goes," Octavia rasped. Emphasis - in spirit - on the almost.

The second, more careful attempt went better, and she held the joint out for him as she exhaled.

"Thank you," Lucifer said. He took a deep pull from the joint, closing his eyes as he felt it settle.

Octavia settled more against his side again. Closed her eyes, too.

Just for the moment.

Lucifer took a second drag, and wrapped his arm around her shoulders.

Octavia snuggled into it, her hand finding his on her shoulder. Playing with his fingers a little bit.

Just because it was nice.

"It's a miracle, really," Lucifer murmured.

[okteiviakom]

"What is?" Octavia wondered, as her fingers pushed between his.

[my_own_advocate]

"This," Lucifer said softly, squeezing her hand.

[okteiviakom]

"Oh," Octavia sighed. Then she nodded, against his shoulder. "I think you're right."

The odds had never been in favor of them ending up here, together, and yet here they were.

"That we can be here, enjoying each other's presence with so little expectations," Lucifer said softly. "That this can be enough."

Octavia nuzzled at his shoulder.

"Even if this was all it ever was, it would be enough."

[my_own_advocate]

"Yes," Lucifer said. He sagged into her a bit more.

[okteiviakom]

Octavia reciprocated.

"Your skin is warm," she informed him in a fond murmur.

[my_own_advocate]

"So is yours," Lucifer chuckled, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "Mm." He took a third puff, and then held the joint out for her. "Sex is postponed, not cancelled."

[okteiviakom]

"Didn't think it was," Octavia replied as she took the cigarette from him, fingers brushing against fingers. "I promise."
