Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Night

Last week had gone a bit... off-plan. And while they'd tried - and largely succeeded - to clear the air right after, Lucifer still felt tonight's date night required a bit more time spent on the actual 'date' portion, rather than the therapeutic sexcapades.

"You know what we haven't gotten much use out of in here in some time?" Lucifer asked, as he set down his empty dessert bowl, "The living room."

Perhaps it was best to try the cuddling and talking before the heavy stuff, this time.

"So should I?" Lucifer replied.

"I don't know what deplane means."

Sorry, she was still caught on an exasperated roll. She'd get off it in a second.

Lucifer sighed, making a wide gesture with one hand. "I mean bring you out of it carefully," he said, "Instead of rolling with it."

"No, I think --"

Octavia had managed to shake the exasperation, now. Which of course meant she had to actually think before answering.

"I don't think I'd want to come out of it in the middle of things," she hazarded, finally.

Lucifer nodded. "Noted," he said. "So it's not a frame of mind you want to avoid, per se?"

"No."

If they'd been smart, they might have made it to that question first.

Well, they always got to places ass-backwards, didn't they?

"All right," Lucifer said, nodding slowly. "Then we'll... take it as it goes. And I will attempt to pay closer attention."

"If I stop talking, that's a pretty big sign," Octavia murmured. It was the best she had, with their limited experience so far.

"You've stopped talking before," Lucifer murmured. "Just not so-- completely."

Yeah, she'd kind of realized right after she'd said it that that wasn't the best metric when it was her.

"In response to questions, then," she hedged. "Maybe? I don't know."

"It's a different kind of silence, I think," Lucifer said thoughtfully. "As I said, I just... have to pay closer attention. What a great chore."

His mouth curved.

"I'm what you should always be focusing on, anyway," Octavia said. Joking, even if the tone didn't quite get there.

"Occasionally life does demand I split my attention between you and our gorgeous hodon," Lucifer teased.

"Obviously I meant when it's just us."

There would be no stealing attention from Duke, here!

"Interesting definition of 'always'," Lucifer teased, kissing the top of her head.

He tightened his arms around her, just letting his thoughts wander for a moment.

"Not when we've only been talking about things happening between the two of us."

None of this applied to the three of them. For obvious reasons.

She sipped from her mug. What was left of the cocoa was pretty cool, by now.

"It was a joke, darling," Lucifer murmured. He nuzzled her hair. "We've been doing this for a while now," he said thoughtfully. "Are there particular things you-- appreciated more than others?"

Look, Octavia took the equal distribution of affection in their threeway very seriously, she couldn't help it.

"I..."

She trailed off, thinking about it. Drank the rest of her cocoa while she was at it.

Lucifer's hand slid over her free one, rubbing idle patterns against her skin, running his fingertips over one of her digits.

"There's nothing I haven't liked, really," Octavia said after a moment. Seemed easier to start from there.

Because it was a lot to sift through, now that she thought about it.

She looked down at her empty mug for a moment, gathering ther thoughst. But, best to grab at whatever came to her first, and go from there: "I like it when you hold me down."

"Give you something to struggle against?" Lucifer asked softly.

"Yeah," Octavia replied, on a little sigh. "Or make me feel like there's no point in struggling."

Because he would always be stronger.

Lucifer nodded, a gentle motion. "That you're forced to give up control."

[okteiviakom]

"Yeah."

Just... yeah.

Lucifer squeezed her hand gently. "I like the moment you give in," he said. "There's something in your eyes..."
