Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Night

Not sleeping with Octavia for two days had seemed like a tolerable proposition after the initial suggestion of five entire days (oh lord). In practice, though, it was its own form of Hell.

So there had definitely been a bit of fumbling with the keys (and the take-out). And a bit of... rushing through the food part.

"We certainly ordered too much rice," he said, only halfway through his pad thai (sigh). "Who knew such a thing was possible."

"Did you?" Lucifer teased. He hugged her tight. "What about me says 'threatened by mesh fabrics', exactly?"

She tried tucking her head under his chin.

"To be threatened by mesh fabrics? I doubt it," Lucifer said, lifting his head slightly to accomodate her.

"Mmh."

What, she didn't have a proper argument to continue with.

"I'm honestly surprised you haven't tried to strap me up in leather before," Lucifer teased, smiling.

"'Cause leather isn't for you."

Well. Only sparingly, anyway. That collar thing was still waiting for its moment to shine.

"Ah," Lucifer said. "Obviously."

"Your suits are your armor," Octavia murmured.

[my_own_advocate]

"Hm?" Lucifer tilted his head ever-so-slightly.

"That's why you don't get leather."

That didn't actually explain much.

"Because it's your armor?" Lucifer tried.

"And that's not your world," Octavia murmured.

[my_own_advocate]

Lucifer hummed something non-committal. "Anymore."

"Not for as long as I've known you." Which was all it was about, wasn't it? Just perceptions.

Hers.

"Which is a very small fraction of my life," Lucifer murmured.

"I know."

What else was there to say to that?

She nuzzled at the top of his chest.

"Not that I mind being your Lucifer, specifically."

The one who wore suits, rather than leather.

"Good," Octavia murmured. "Not that I doubted that."

[my_own_advocate]

"It's still a good thing to say from time to time," Lucifer said softly. "I think... I may be the best version of myself I've ever been."

"I think I prefer this one."

Not that she'd known any of the others. Didn't matter.

"Well, this one is yours," Lucifer said, mouth curving. "That helps."

Octavia pressed a kiss to the top of his chest.

"This one makes me happy."

[my_own_advocate]

"Good," Lucifer said softly. "Because you make this one happy."

"Maybe this one's a fool."

It sounded too gentle and teasing to be serious. For once.

"More than likely," Lucifer laughed.
