Lucifer's Mansion, Sunday Night

Not sleeping with Octavia for two days had seemed like a tolerable proposition after the initial suggestion of five entire days (oh lord). In practice, though, it was its own form of Hell.

So there had definitely been a bit of fumbling with the keys (and the take-out). And a bit of... rushing through the food part.

"We certainly ordered too much rice," he said, only halfway through his pad thai (sigh). "Who knew such a thing was possible."

'About what?' would probably not really fly as a response. And beyond that first kneejerk impulse, it wasn't really one Octavia even wanted to reach for.

"That was... good," she murmured. "Like, really good. Letting you --"

Suffer?

She wasn't sure she wanted to say that.

"Letting me what?" Lucifer murmured.

The last clasp. At least for that arm.

"Beg."

That was a good compromise.

Lucifer huffed softly. "Yes, you did seem to enjoy yourself with that," he said. "As well as with refusing me."

"Sometimes power means refusing," Octavia muttered, shrugging the now-open side of the harness off her arm.

Because that was what it was really all about, wasn't it?

Power.

"Yes."

Lucifer's hand slid to her other arm and resumed opening the clasps. "You were quite beautiful throughout all that."

"It doesn't feel like that," Octavia replied, softer again.

"How does it feel?" Lucifer asked quietly.

"Like a darker thing."

She hesitated.

"But right. Somehow."

And the last one came loose. "Like it's what you need?" Lucifer asked. "Or what you deserve?"

Octavia had been ready to answer after the first question, complete with a soft inhale before speaking, but the other one... She fell silet for a little moment.

And then just said, "Need."

She had a whole other category of things they did that she felt she deserved.

(At least when she wasn't caught up in the moment.)

Lucifer kissed her temple, soft and fond. "Then I'll repeat myself," he murmured. "I'm glad I can give you that."

Octavia tried hugging him closer.

"You trust me," she said quietly. It wasn't a question: she was almost painfully aware of how much none of this was possible without that.

"Yes," Lucifer said, without a hint of hesitation. "And you always prove me right to."

"I love you," Octavia murmured. "And I always only want the best for you."

She nuzzled at his neck.

"In the end."

"The feeling is mutual," Lucifer said, his hand straying onto her leg. "We've had a few of these by now, dear Octavia mine. I know who you are with me, even at your darkest."

Octavia shifted. She really needed to be face to face with him right now, pressing her forehead gently to his.

"There's a part of me that... wants to make you really uncomfortable."

That was one way to put it. Not that it mattered, because he already knew.

Lucifer chuckled softly. "I noticed," he said, sliding a hand across her cheek into her hair.

"I don't know how that can feel almost as good as coming."

That felt like a secret.

"As you said," Lucifer murmured, "It's an expression of power."

[okteiviakom]

"I still don't think it should work like that." But it did. Oh, how it did. "But it just... Everything else fades away. Like the world is just this room, and I'm..."

A breath.

And she swallowed.

"At the center."

"I can see how you'd enjoy that," Lucifer murmured. "To be the one thing that matters. Whose will matters."

"And none of it has consequences," she muttered. "Not really."

Not ones that lasted and came back to haunt her.

"No," Lucifer said, with another gentle chuckle. "And you take such good care fo me afterward."

"It's like making amends."

Guess aftercare came naturally to her.
