Lucifer's Mansion, Wednesday Evening

Octavia was back at work. Just like that. Like this was a normal week, and they'd had a normal time, and he entire world hadn't suddenly gone upside down.

Lucifer was having a harder time of it. Perhaps, though, she was right, and what he needed was some... semblance of a routine again.

So on a whim, he'd texted Duke about date night. Then he'd run off to the store to pick up supplies, and... now he was here. In the kitchen. Readying his lasagna for the oven while he waited for Duke to arrive, a bottle of wine sitting on the table.

Everything. Was fine.

"In that case, I'll be happy to prove a distraction tonight," Lucifer said, mouth curving.

For Duke, but also for himself.

"Now that." Duke sipped his wine. "That sounds fantastic."

"We'll drink heavily, eat excellent food, and then I'm going to undress you and tie you to the bed," Lucifer assured him. "And then find three more interesting ways to do it for the rest of the night."

Duke closed his eyes and took a slow breath, imagining it.

"Yes," he said. "And I might have a surprise for you when we get to the bedroom, too."

He was very glad he'd decided to wear the lacy briefs today.

"Oh, really?" Lucifer said, lighting up. "I do love surprises."

"I know you do," Duke said. "Octavia and I had a lot of fun, shopping for things you might enjoy."

"The both of you do know what I like," Lucifer said, smirking. "Though now I feel as if I should have returned the favor."

"Nah," Duke said. "You've done plenty for us. And anyway, who's keeping track?"

"But it's fun to spoil you," Lucifer said, sitting back with his wine and a grin.

"I won't say no to that," Duke said. "I just get to spoil you back."

[my_own_advocate]

"Fair enough," Lucifer said, grin widening.

He made a point of looking Duke up and down to the best of his ability.

Duke grinned, making a show of enjoying his next bite of lasagna.

It was a lot easier to actually enjoy it when he wasn't dealing with all the shit last weekend had brought.

"I have definitely not told you you're gorgeous often enough," Lucifer decided, sipping his wine.

"I could stand to hear it more." Duke looked up with a wry grin. "What's my best feature?"

Lucifer laughed softly. "At the moment, I'm rather fond of your eyes," he said. "Peeking out from underneath that messy hair of yours."

Duke didn't know that his eyes had been black, under Croatoan's thumb. But he did know they had tended to change colors with his trouble.

"I have good eyes," he said, by way of agreement, letting a bit of hair hang into his face as he tilted his head. "I would have thought you'd go for the hair, though."

He knew Lucifer loved his hair.

"I do love how it looks on you when it's loose," Lucifer allowed. "And taking it out of that ponytail in general."

His mouth curved further. "But your eyes are so warm when you look at me."

When he was Duke.

Duke flicked his gaze down for a second, flattered, then looked back up.

"That's 'cause I love you."

"Is it self-involved to say it suits you?" Lucifer teased.
