The Cape Rouge, Sunday Evening
It had been a restful few weeks in Chile, but all things had to come to an end - at least for now. And so, blissfully unaware of any children running around, Lucifer, Octavia and Duke returned to the island.
Lucifer ambled up along the dock, bearing his luggage-- and then came to a stop, blinking up at the Rouge.
"Did I order a hundred kilos worth of candy?" he said, gesturing to the massive pile on the deck. "Or is the island developing a sweet tooth?"

But the island had messed with his boat.

"I know it doesn't help," she murmured.

"Yeah," he told Lucifer again. "I know."
He was still going to need to check before he relaxed again, though.

So, just the hand it was.
She said nothing.

For now, he was just glad that neither of them was making him have to explain.
Lucifer got a wan and grateful smile of his own before Duke started sorting through the cabinets.
". . . I found more candy."

Octavia leaned past him to grab some of the candy with her free hand. "Well, at least we're not about to run out." As if they were big on candy to begin with, but, you know. She was trying.

Sorry. You were going to be stuck with a sugar-soaked Devil for a while.

Duke pulled some out and offered it to him. "I'm just glad it didn't outright replace all the regular food."
Unlike his weapons.
. . . And their booze.

(And even if he did, she would just... let go.)
She glanced up at Lucifer.

And put an idle hand on her hip.

He appreciated Octavia pressing against him and slowed down deliberately, telegraphing his moves so she could move with him as he shifted to check the drawers that lined the opposite bulkhead.
His ukulele and books were all intact. It wasn't super likely that a kid could hurt themselves with those, so he supposed that made sense. . . .

Her other hand sliding on top of Lucifer's on her hip.
Something calm coming over her, at least for the moment.

"So far, so good," Duke agreed. "You're probably right."
And yet, he checked.
no subject
He was going to do it anyway. Might as well be supportive.

His other hand, now free, sort of... strayed towards Duke's shoulderblades.

How the heck had he navigated these weird Fandom times before they showed up in his life? (The fact that his brain chemistry had been a bit more stable then had helped. But he hadn't exactly been great at it then.)
"I guess we can hold off on checking the whole ship," he allowed.

His voice had softened some, after that quick smile.

"I'm into it."
That was an attempt at a joke. Ish.
