The Cape Rouge, Saturday Afternoon

It had been a glorious week free of drama (bar what Eric predictably brought to the table), and they were capping it off with an even more glorious weekend of nudity, scarves, a light pirate 'abduction', and, well. .

A nap here and there, at least if you were Lucifer; he hadn't exactly been keeping track of where anyone else had been while he was out. Had to keep his strength up.

Which was why he was in the kitchen late into the afternoon, still naked. "First batch of grilled cheese is almost ready!" he called, flipping one sandwich with a practiced motion. Hey, if you were impervious to boiling butter, you made the most of it, no?

"You just keep me hanging on. . . ." Duke echoed. And hummed the bridge.

Lucifer let out a soft breath. His fingers disentangled from Octavia's, sliding up to work their way through her hair.

"You're going to reap just what you sow," he sang, eyes closed, as he let himself get lost in the melody. "You're going to reap just what you sow..."

Did that part sound ominous to anyone else, or was it just Octavia?

She gave a low, toneless hum to Lucifer's fingers in her hair. And slid her now-free hand over him to where she could blindly try and reach for Duke.

It wasn't just Octavia. But Duke was determined to ignore the tone switch.

He hummed along in tune, catching Octavia's reaching hand with his casted one, and wished -- not at all for the first time -- that he was healed up already and the cast was gone. He had two partners, he needed both hands to properly hang onto them both in situations like these!

It depended on what you'd sown, didn't it? It made a strange, twisting sense to Lucifer, who'd sown many a terrible thing and reaped it - and now felt like he'd managed to create something good.

But his singing fell away to humming soon enough.

Finally, he brushed another kiss against Duke's free arm.

Duke's casted hand was enough for Octavia. As long as she could give his fingers a gentle squeeze, she was good.

"Meizen," she murmured. Meant the song, but meant them, too.

Lucifer fell silent after she spoke. Or... at least, he stopped humming.

"Yes, you are," he said softly.

And didn't think I don't deserve it, for once in his life.
