The Cape Rouge, Sunday Morning
Three people on this boat had been on the pub crawl last night. One of them hadn't drunk any alcohol, another had a celestial liver, and then... well, there was Duke.
Poor drunk Duke, who they'd carried - carefully - onto the Rouge last night and who was likely to experience a truly horrific hangover when he woke up sometime in the next few hours. Lucifer had already set out a glass of water and some painkillers for him, and was inclined to leave it that way, since hungover Duke also had the potential to be very funny.
But for whatever reason, it was morning and he was awake. And Duke wasn't, yet. And another instinct overrode his desire to stay in bed and make fun of the inevitable crash.
So he slunk out of bed, into the kitchen, and started cooking.

"It's fine, jaka," she murmured. "Nothing too embarassing."

He pressed a kiss against Duke's shoulder.

"I don't have anywhere else to be."

He was absolutely not bringing up that ILU, no.

Terrible, really.

She was watching them, that was all.
"That, and poor coordination."

"You never dared anyone to chug anything," he assured Duke, "Nor did you shout 'dude' at volume."

"I don't know what most of that means," she said, "but you were fine."

He trailed off. He wasn't sure how to say what he was feeling. Like he'd been exposed and couldn't even remember it.

She said nothing about it, though. And pierced another few pieces of fruit onto her fork.

"I don't think there's enough booze on the planet to get you anywhere near where I was last night," he said, shoving Lucifer gently. "I guess I'll just . . . live with the unfairness."

She didn't use that word lightly.

"Listen to the Devil who made you breakfast."

"You two take good care of me."

That was maybe a bit of last night shimmering through.
