A Nice Lunch Place in Baltimore, Monday, Lunchtime

Linda and Amenadiel were stopping by to 'check' on Lucifer. If Lucifer knew the good doctor - and thought of the screaming little parasite she now had at home - he could only imagine she was using it as an excuse to get away from nursing a mewling infant or something.

Well, she probably also wanted to see him. He was her most interesting patient, after all.

He wasn't necessarily looking forward to seeing his sainted older brother this time, however. And so it seemed logical to segue from the lunch into something more fun, like... taking money from strangers in gambling dens or or something, so it made perfect sense to drag ~~a security blanket~~ Duke with him while he was going. It was just efficient. (He was also wearing the camel suit with the blue shirt because classic was not boring, Duke.)

"There they are," he said, walking towards a table at the back. "Dr. Linda! Radiant as always!"

"At least for those two, yeah," Duke agreed. "This is going to be either a really short or a really one-sided conversation if you don't tell me anything personal, you know."

They weren't actually in a therapy session, right?

"We're not together anymore," Linda said, shooting him a wry look. "He's just my baby's dad."

"Ah." Duke nodded. "Who you go on vacation with."

Linda smiled a little. "We're still friends," she said. "But it upset Maze when we were together. And now having a relationship just... feels like more work on top of something we're doing that's already satisfying in its own right."

"You and Maze must be pretty tight," Duke observed. "That how you got wrapped up in all this angel and devil business in the first place?"

Linda snorted. "No, Chloe and Lucifer came to me about a case," she said, "and then I wound up sleeping with Lucifer."

She took her wine and took a sip. "... in exchange for therapy."

Duke nodded slowly, taking a sip of his own wine. "World's oldest currency. At least it's fun to use."

"And I don't have to tell you that man is like sex catnip," Linda muttered. She shook her head. "I thought he was just... using weird metaphors at first to talk about his crappy childhood. Then he showed me his Devil face."

"Which is some fucked up shit, for sure," Duke said. "I might've reacted the same way at first, you know, if Fandom and Haven hadn't both broken me in for 'the world is full of very weird, terrifying things'."

"It's not every day that you find out your patient is actually the Devil," Linda agreed, "... and your best friend really is a demon from Hell."

Outside, two bedraggled-looking angels began their trek back to the restaurant.

“Or that the Devil’s family problems are eerily similar to your own,” Duke added.

"God, you definitely need therapy," Linda said, laughing.

The door opened to reveal Lucifer, his hair a mess, and Amenadiel, with a large bruise on his cheek.

They were grinning.

"Did you start on the wine without me?" Lucifer called.
